Happy 100^th Day of School,

Assembly: Students participated in House Games as well as a Pancake Eating Competition. Congratulations to Zeta, who was victorious in both events!

Calendar: Today’s calendar was led by Ahaan. Great job Ahaan!

Phonics: Today, students reviewed the “Z/z” sound, letter, and song. Students completed an activity to practice printing and identifying words that contain the “Z/z” sound.

Lunch/ Recess 1

100^th Day Fashion Show: Today, students had the opportunity to strut their stuff on the runway! Students went to visit our Reading Buddies, and shared our 100^th Day Fashion designs with them. Students enjoyed this special activity!

Unit of Inquiry: Today, students continued their new Unit of Inquiry about Where We Are in Place and Time. Students had the opportunity to draw what they believe Earth, the moon, the sun, and stars look like. Students will revisit this task to see how their understanding changes throughout the unit.

Taking Action

Action is a very significant aspect of the IB learning process. In the PYP Program, students will engage in 6 Unit of Inquiries (UOI) throughout the school year, with each unit being approximately 6 weeks long. During each UOI, 3 students from the class will be assigned as the “Action Stars”, which means that they are encouraged to use what has been learned and apply it to the “real world.” The purpose of this initiative is to help further knowledge about what has been learned within the classroom. Example: If we are learning about recycling, students might go home and tell you that they want to implement a recycling program with you at home, or they may do something simple like telling you that something you were throwing in the garbage may be recycled. Students who are not assigned this role for the current UOI being taught are still encouraged to show ACTION! Action comes in many forms; it might be something small to something very large, but as long as the children understand the concepts, action is important no matter the size!
