Calendar: Today’s calendar was led by Veer. Great job Veer!
Phonics: Today, students reviewed the “Oi/oi” sound, letters,
and song. Students completed an activity to practice identifying and printing
words that contain the “Oi/oi” sound.
French: Please see Mlle Jessica’s blog for more
information.
Arts Night Rehearsal: Today, students rehearsed their song “It’s a
Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood.” Students also decided which role they
would like to have in our neighbourhood skit. Here is a list of each person’s
role. We discussed what the costume would be like for each person and what
props they would like to bring. We have neighbours who are gardening,
delivering mail, riding a bike, or returning home from work. We have neighbours
who are going on a picnic, or mowing the lawn. We also have neighbours taking a
dog for a walk, as well as our two narrators Mr. Rogers. I will provide a
recording of the music so that students can also practice singing at home.
Lunch/ Recess 1
Math: Today, students reviewed how to measure capacity.
Students discussed how the tallest container cannot always hold the greatest
volume. Students then made predictions about how many more scoops or items
would be required to fill a container or to have a container at full capacity.
Unit of Inquiry: Today, students discussed the feeling of
sadness. We read a book called Franklin’s Secret Club. Students discussed how
they feel sad when they are left out. Students discussed how we know when
someone is sad, and different strategies to help them feel better. Many
students suggested ways to make sure that everyone is included. They also
recognized how sometimes we need a bit of time or space before we are ready to
talk about how we feel.
