Good evening,
Calendar: Today’s calendar was led by Sianna. Great job Sianna!
Phonics: Today,
the students were introduced to the Long “Ee/Ea” sound, action and song. Students
watched two videos called “Geraldine learns the /ee/ sound” and “Geraldine
learns the /ea/ sound.” Students brainstormed a list of words that contain this
sound.
French: Please see Mlle. Jessica’s blog for more
information.
Museum: We visited
the Grade 5 Museum of Ancient Civilizations. We learned a lot from both exhibits,
and were able to ask lots of questions.
Lunch/ Recess 1
Journals: Students created entries
that started with “At the museum…” and used their senses to describe what they
saw and heard, and the artifacts that they were able to touch.
Math: Today students reviewed
how to construct bar graphs, and to find the total for each column. Students
are recalling that they start filling in the graph at the bottom, and how to
determine which choice is more or less popular. Students also practiced sorting
and classifying, by adding objects to a group, or by deciding which object does
not belong. It is important for students to continue to identify the sorting
rule when looking at a group of objects.
Lunch/ Recess 2
Gym: Please see Mrs. Jan’s blog for more information.
